Becauseit ensuresthat the facesof portrait subjects will be in focus, Intelligent FaceDetection (pg. 20) is recom-ii mended when using tile self-timer for group portraits or self-portraits. Touse the self-timer with Intelligent Face

Detection, set the timer asdescribed in Step 1and then pressthe shutter button all the way down to start the

timer. The camera will detect faceswhile the timer is counting down and adjust focus and exposure immedi- ,_

ately before the shutter is released. Be careful not to move until the picture has been recorded. _-

Tile self-timer turns offautomatically when the picture is taken, a different shooting mode is selected, playback mode is selected, or the camera is turned off.
