The unit does not cut well:

We expressly point out that,
in accordance with the prod-
uct liability law, we are not li-
able for any damage caused
by our units if it is due to
improper repair or if parts ex-
changed are not original GAR-
DENA parts or parts
approved by us, and, if the
repairs were not carried
out by a GARDENA Service
Centre or an authorised
specialist. The same applies
to spare parts and acces-
sories.

7. Trouble-Shooting

ADue to risk of personal
injury and material
damage, never clean the unit
with running water, especially
not under high pressure.
Store the grass shears in a
dry and frostfree place. Keep
out of the reach of children.
Cover the blade with sheath
for storage.
Correct wintering:
.Fully charge Accu Shears
after the last use (approx.
20 hours).
.Store in a cool, dry area
where they are protected
from frost.
.Before re-using them in
spring charge for approx.
20 hours.
Disposal/ Recycling
Your GARDENA Accu Shears
contain long-living nickel/cad-
mium cells. After their lifetime
have expired, they may not be
disposed of as normal house
rubbish, but must be disposed
of properly.
Please return the NC-cells
to a dealer who keeps the
GARDENA Accu Shears or
return them directly to one
on the rear page mentioned
GARDENA Service Centres.
Changing the Accus (ill. F)
.Loosen screws a, remove
blades.
.Loosen casing screws b,
take-off casing.
.Pull cable receptacles c
from accu-pack.
.Re-assemble in reverse
order.
AAttention! Contacts of
accus may not touch
metallic parts. Short circuit.
Fire risk!
ACaution – Danger!
Cutting tools have an
after-run.
Before every use, inspect
the unit. Do not use the unit
if safety devices and/or the
blades have been damaged
or are worn out. Never oper-
ate the unit with the safety
devices disassembled.
Only use the unit for the
purposes specified in these
instructions.
Do not wear loosely hanging
clothes, jewelry etc. They
could become caught in the
machine. Wear sturdy shoes
and gloves. Wear long
trousers to protect your legs.
Make sure that there are
no other people (especially
children) or animals anywhere
near the working area.
You are responsible for the
safety of the working area.
Inspect the area to be cut be-
fore beginning. Remove any
objects from the area. Take
care of objects when working.
If, in spite of that, you should
contact any obstructions
when cutting, turn off the
unit, (safety stop switch 4
to position “0”) and remove
the object.
If the cutting blades become
blocked, turn off the unit,
(safety stop switch 4to posi-
tion “0”) and remove the ob-
ject (thick branch, another
object) by means of a blunt
device.
Never use your fingers to
remove objects as blades
can cause enormous cutting
injuries.
The charging cable should
regularly be checked for signs
of damage and aging (brittle-
ness) and may only be used
if it is in perfect condition.
Only use the original
GARDENA charging device
or one authorised by the
manufacturer.
Non-rechargeable batteries
must not be charged with the
battery charger (danger of
fire).

8. Information Concerning Proper Use, Safety Information

GARDENA Accu Standard
should not be operated
whilst charging process.
Only work when visibility is
good.
Be particularly careful when
walking backwards. You
might stumble!
Never leave the unit unat-
tended at the working area.
If you should interrupt your
work, store the unit in a safe
place (safety stop switch 4
to position “0”).
If you should interrupt your
work and go to another work-
ing area, it is absolutely
necessary to switch off the
unit (safety stop switch 4
to position “0”).
Never use the unit when it
is raining or in a damp, wet
area.
