Prepare the Window

ADecide where the air conditioner will fit best. If you want to install the air conditioner in a window that does not open, you need to remove the glass panes and window dividers to provide an opening at least 153/4″ wide ⋅ 211/2″ high.

BIf the window opening is wider than 153/4″, you will need to install a filler panel. Make this panel from 3/4″ thick wood and run it the full length of the window. Attach it securely to the window frame and paint it to protect it from the weather.
