Start Up Procedures

1 Remove pitcher lid cover.

2 Unwrap filter cartridge and submerge the cartridge in clean water. Allow cartridge to soak for 15 minutes to flush out any loose, small carbon particles, which may be present in your water from the filter, but are not harmful.

3 Wash the pitcher, lid and reservoir with soap and warm water and rinse thoroughly. NOTE: NOT DISHWASHER SAFE. DO

NOT WASH FILTER CARTRIDGE.

4 Place the reservoir into the pitcher. Make sure the spout and handle recess on the reservoir are in the correct orientation.

7 Replace lid cover. The lid will snap when it is in the proper location. Open the sliding lid and fill the reservoir with cold tap water and set the pitcher aside. Filtered water will begin to collect in the bottom of the pitcher. Continue to add water until the filtered water in the pitcher reaches the bottom of the reservoir. Do not overfill. Keep water below the bottom edge of the slot (see illustration below). Close the sliding lid on the pitcher.

Sliding

Lid

Fill to the bottom edge of the sliding lid track.

NOTE: If small, black carbon particles are present in the filtered drinking water, the filter cartridge may not have been thoroughly flushed. These small carbon particles are harmless, though it may be necessary to empty the first 1–2 pitchers of filtered water to flush out any remaining carbon particles.

8 Keep pitcher filter refrigerated at all times. After 3 to 4 days, replace unused water with fresh, clean water.
