9. Inspect the harness straps from the front and back of the car seat to be sure the straps are inserted at the same level and that they are not twisted. Twisted belts can create slack in the harness straps and reduce the protection provided by the car seat.

10. Pull on the harness straps from the front of the car seat to be sure the straps are secure.

11. Check the crotch

not under your child.

 

If you need to move

 

the strap, reach under the seat and push the

 

metal retainer up through the slot sideways ‹. Push it back down through the appropriate slot (making sure the red button faces out) and tug on it to be sure that it is properly secured.

The components of your harness are now properly positioned for your child. You will fine-tune the fit each time you place your child in the car seat by using the adjustment strap.

Remember to check the shoulder and crotch straps as your child grows and move them to the next position when necessary.
