Additional Safety Instructions For Table Saws

.ALWAYS use blade guard, splitter and anti-kickback fingers on all ''through-saw- ing'' operations. Through-sawing opera- tions are those when the blade cuts com- pletely through the workpiece as in ripping or crosscutting.

.AVOID KICKBACKS. A condition in which a piece of wood is thrown back towards an operator at a high rate of speed. If you do not have a complete understanding of how kickback occurs, or how to prevent it, DO NOT operate this table saw.

.NEVER reach behind or over the blade with either hand for any reason.

.ALWAYS use a push-stick for ripping nar- row stock.

.NEVER perform any operation ''free- hand,'' which means using only your hands to support or guide the workpiece. Always use either the fence or the miter gauge to position and guide the work.

.NEVER stand or have any part of your body in line with the path of the saw blade.

.ALWAYS hold the work firmly against the miter gauge or fence while holding down against the table.

.MOVE the rip fence out of the way when crosscutting.

.NEVER use the miter gauge and rip fence at the same time.

.NEVER attempt to free a stalled saw blade without first turning the saw OFF.

.PROVIDE adequate support to the rear and sides of the saw table for wide or long workpieces.

.AVOID awkward operations and hand positions where a sudden slip could cause your hand to move into the blade.

.IF AT ANY TIME YOU ARE EXPERIENC- ING DIFFICULTIES performing the intend- ed operation, stop using the machine! Then contact our service department or ask a qualified expert how the operation should be performed.

.ALWAYS LOWER OR REMOVE SAW BLADE WHEN NOT IN USE.

.NEVER USE A DAMAGED SAW BLADE OR ONE THAT HAS BEEN DROPPED.

.USE GREAT CARE WHEN CUTTING WITH A DADO BLADE. There is a high degree of risk involved with any dado oper- ation. Slight movement of the stock away from the fence will cause kickback.

No list of safety guidelines can be com- plete. Every shop environment is different. Always consider safety first, as it applies to your individual working conditions.
