Know Your Kettle

Cordless Kettle

Your cordless kettle has the power supply connected to the power base, eliminating the need to plug and unplug the cord from the electrical outlet. However, it is always a good safety practice to unplug the power base when not in use.

For general operation see “Using Your Electric Kettle.”

After filling the kettle with water, it should be placed on the base so that it is correctly engaged.

After use the kettle may be left on the base but we recommend you unplug the cord from the outlet.

If Your Kettle Boils Dry

The heating element is protected by two automatic safety devices. If your kettle is accidentally switched on without being filled with water, or is allowed to boil dry, the kettle will automatically repeat a cycle of switching off, cooling down and switching back on. You should:

Unplug the kettle and wait about 15 minutes for the element to cool down.

Refill the kettle, then use as normal and check that the kettle functions correctly.

If Heating Element Discolors

It is normal for stainless steel heating elements to discolor. This does not affect the performance of the kettle. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners as this may damage the stainless steel surface.

If Your Kettle Does Not Work

Make these simple checks before calling the toll-free customer service number:

Have you switched the power switch button to the “on” ( l) position?

Has the kettle been accidentally switched on without being filled with water or allowed to boil dry? Wait 15 minutes and try again.

Is the kettle cord firmly plugged in the outlet or, in the case of the cordless kettle, is it firmly plugged into the outlet and firmly seated in the base?

If the kettle heats but does not boil, it might need descaling.

Cleaning & Descaling Your Kettle

1.With kettle unplugged, empty out any remaining water and rinse. If your model has a mesh filter, remove it before cleaning.

2.To remove lime deposits, which build up periodically from all water, use a scale/lime remover following its directions carefully.

3.To avoid scale/lime deposit build up, empty the kettle after each use.

4.Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders as they may scratch the smooth surface of the kettle.

5.NEVER IMMERSE THE KETTLE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS.
