3 Fireplace Size Requirements
A. Minimum Fireplace Opening
Minimum fireplace opening requirements are shown in Figure 3.1.
•The firebrick (refractory), glass doors, screen rails, screen mesh and log grates can be removed from a factory built firebox in order to gain minimum gas insert opening requirements.
•Any smoke shelves, shields and baffles may be removed from a factory built firebox if attached with mechanical fasteners.
•The metal floor of the factory built firebox may be removed to facilitate the installation of the insert only when a 1/4 inch airspace is provided between the insert and the floor of outer wrap.

Locate appliance away from traffic areas.
