Preparation for Storage
1. Disconnect the fuel line and install the cap on the engine fuel inlet. Firm-
ly close the fuel cap vent knob.
FUEL INLET
Vertical transport or storage: Attach the stern bracket to a stand.
CAUTION: Any other transport or storage position may cause damage or
oil leakage.
2. Loosen the carburetor drain screw, and drain the gasoline into a suitable
container. After draining, retighten the drain screw.

Be careful not to spill fuel. Spilled fuel or fuel vapor may ignite. If any
fuel is spilled, make sure the area is dry before storing or transporting the
motor.

Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks where fuel is drained or stored.
CAUTION: In cold weather, to prevent ice from forming inside the water
pump, pull the recoil starter several times to flush the water out.

3. Tilt the outboard motor, remove the plug caps, pull the recoil starter
several times and completely drain the cooling water.
CAUTION:

If the outboard motor is placed on its side, without completely draining
the cooling water immediately after operation,. water may enter the
engine through the exhaust port. Be sure to drain the cooling water
before placing the outboard motor on its side.

Be careful not to touch either spark plug wire while pulling the starter
grip.
