Brush surface of filter to remove any clinging litter.

Push filter back into frame.

Replace filter, matching rounded flap with rounded side of dirt cup (opposite side that slides onto handle).

9.Slide dirt cup completely onto handle making sure latch is secure.

Clearing blockages

Removing larger items from carpet and other surfaces before vacuuming will help prevent obstructions in the nozzle or dirt passageway, and maintain the cleaning effectiveness of your cleaner.

To check for obstructions, first turn cleaner Off and disconnect cord from electrical outlet. Remove dirt cup; remove any obstruction from dirt pas- sageway. The bottom plate may be removed if there is an obstruction in the nozzle. See “The Belt” section.

How to clean

Disconnect cleaner from electrical outlet.

The filter protects the motor from dirt particles. Brush dirt from filter when emptying dirt cup. If a significant reduc- tion in pick up is observed, the filter may be washed in warm water. Filter must be completely dry before replacing it in cleaner. Do not use cleaner without filter in place. Avoid picking up oily debris that may damage filter.

The belt

The belt in your cleaner drives the agita- tor. It has been designed specifically for use in this cleaner and is important for effective operation.

What to buy

When purchasing a new belt, ask for Hoover part No. 38528032.

How to replace

Disconnect cleaner from electrical outlet.

The belt is located behind the front cover of your cleaner and should be checked from time to time. Replace the belt if it is stretched or broken.

Lift off front cover (B).
