Display assembly components (cable, antennas, hinges, enclosure)

NOTE: This section describes removing components that require you to completely remove the display panel. For more information about removing display components that do not require that you remove the assembly from the computer, see Display assembly components (panel, bezel, webcam, microphone) on page 44.

All display assemblies include WLAN antenna transceivers and cables. WWAN models include 2 WWAN antenna transceivers and cables.

Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps:

1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

4.Remove the battery (see Battery on page 42).

5.Remove the following components:

a.Remove the bottom door (see Bottom door on page 49).

b.Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 54)

c.Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 50)

d.WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 60)

e.WWAN module (see WWAN module on page 58)

f.Fan (see Fan on page 64)

g.Heat sink (see Heat sink on page 65)

h.Modem module (see Modem module on page 63)

i.Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 68)

j.Bottom cover (see Bottom cover from top cover on page 71)

Remove the display assembly:

1.Position the computer right-side up with the front toward you.
