Limitations

EVM limitations include the following topics:

RTE/Browser Versions to Correct GUI Problems

Logical Volume Manager Support

BCV Persistence Across Host Reboots

Mounting Multiple Logical Volumes per Volume Group

International Language Support

30-Minute Spawn Process Timeout

RTE/Browser Versions to Correct GUI Problems

EVM requires the Java runtime environment (RTE) plug-in version to be installed on any host being used to view the EVM GUI (refer to the EVM Network Administration Guide for a list of supported browser and RTE versions). This RTE version appears to be compatible with most Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator browser versions, but some combinations result in unusual GUI behavior. Symptoms include:

Job names being replaced by the word “null.”

Unresponsiveness to double-clicking or right-clicking.

Distorted displays and other abnormalities.

If any of these problems are encountered:

1.Verify that only the required RTE version is installed on the host.

2.Remove any other versions, if necessary.

1.Hereafter referred to as EVM Network Administration Guide.
