Application Info screen

The Application Info screen for each application lists its name and version, along with details about the application. Depending on the application and where it came from, it may also include buttons for managing the application’s data, forcing the application to stop, and uninstalling the application. It also lists details about the kinds of information about your phone and data that the application has access to.

Touch the Force stop button to stop an application. The application is stopped without confirmation.

Storage

Gives details about the amount of phone storage that an application uses. If you installed the application from Android Market or another source, includes an Uninstall button that you can use to remove the application and all of its data and settings from the phone. See “Market” on page 301 for more information about uninstalling and reinstalling applications.

Cache

If the application stores data in a temporary area of the phone's memory, lists how much information is stored, and includes a button for clearing it.

Launch by default

If you have configured an application to launch certain file types by default, you can clear that setting here.

Permissions

Lists the kinds of information about your phone and data the application has access to.

Development screen

The Development screen contains settings that are useful for developing Android applications. For full information, including documentation of the Android APIs and development tools, see the Android developer web site (http://developer.android.com).

USB debugging

Check to permit debugging tools on a computer to communicate with your phone via a USB connection.
