Checking and Adjusting the Throttle Cable and Choke Cable
Check that the engine responds to throttle increases and that a good engine speed is attained at full throttle.
If doubts arise, contact the service workshop. If adjustments are necessary, they can be made as follows:
1.Position the throttle/choke control lever to full throttle (not the “Choke”) position.
2.Loosen cable clamp and slide cable rearward to the internal stop on the carburetor linkage (until strong resistance is felt).
3.Hold cable in this position while tightening cable clamp securely. Verify choke operation using the throttle/choke control lever.
4.Move throttle choke control lever to make sure the choke is disengaged and the engine runs at full speed when the throttle control is moved to the “Fast” position.
5.Verify the control slows the engine when the throttle/choke lever is pulled rearward and the engine stops (BBC models only).
6.Start the engine and move the throttle lever to the fast (or high) position. Using a tachometer, check the engine speed.
7.The carburetor and engine rpm is not field adjustable. If out of specification, take it to an authorized Kawasaki engine dealer. Do not over speed engine or defeat the engine governor.
