Configuration rules

When you set up your expansion unit, observe the rules in Table4.

General vWhen connecting HSL cables fromthe system unit to an
expansion unit:
–Connect the first HSL cable between connectorA0 on
the system unit (or the first available set of connectors)
and connector 0 on your expansion unit.
–Connect the last HSL cable between connectorA1 on
the system unit (or the first available set of connectors)
and connector 1 on your expansion unit.
vWhen connecting HSL cables between expansion units:
–Connect the HSL cable to connector 1 on the first
expansion unit and to connector 0 on the next
expansion unit.
vConnect an SPCN cable from J15 on the system unit to
J15 on the expansion unit.
vConnect an SPCN cable from J16 on the expansion unit to
J15 on the next expansion unit.
5079 expansion unit vThe 5079 expansion unit counts as two 5074 expansion
units.
iSeries 820 vThe 820 can have up to five expansion units in one HSL
loop.
