3Reinstall and close the battery compartment door and return your boombox to the upright position.
Note
The AC power adapter must be disconnected from the DC IN jack on the back of your boombox in order for your boombox to operate on battery power.
When the battery indicator 
appears in the display, you need to replace the batteries.
Caution
Follow these precautions when using batteries in this device:
-Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
-Make sure that you follow the correct polarity as indicated in the battery compartment when installing batteries. Reversed batteries may cause damage to your boombox.
-Do not mix different types of batteries together (for example, alkaline, rechargeable, and carbon zinc), or
-If your boombox is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.
-Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged, because they can overheat and rupture. (Follow battery manufacturer’s directions.)
-Do not throw batteries into a fire. Dispose of used batteries as hazardous waste.
Connecting headphones
To connect headphones:•Plug the headphones (not included) into the headphone jack on the back of the unit.
Caution
Listening to music with the volume too loud can damage your hearing. Before you connect headphones, turn the volume down. After you put on the headphones, gradually increase the volume to a comfortable level.
Connecting an iPod® to your boombox
You can connect an iPod® (not included) to your boombox so you can listen to the songs stored on your iPod®.
To connect an iPod® to your boombox:1Make sure that your boombox is turned off.
2Select the appropriate iPod® holder (the universal dock number is shown on the front of the holder, as shown on the “iPod® holders” on page 17) to match your iPod®.
