Recording CD onto an MD and a Tape —CD Synchronized Recording

With this recording method, you can start and stop CD play, MD and tape recordings at the same time.

1 Prepare a disc .

After placing a disc, press CD 3/8, then 7 before going to the next step.

You can make a program (see page 24) or select Random play mode (see page 25) if you want.

2 Insert a recordable MD into the MD loading slot and put a recordable cassette into the cassette holder.

For the MD:

Set the MD recording length mode, “LP:”-prefix addition mode, and Group recording mode (see “Setting MD Recording Modes” on page 39).

For the tape:

Press REV.MODE to select the reverse mode ( ).

3 Press x1,2,4 on the remote control to select x1 (normal speed recording).

You cannot use x2 or x4 speed recording. (If you try to do so, “CANNOT REC x1 REC ONLY” will appear in step 4 below.)

4 Press MD&TAPE REC.

When you select a track by pressing ¢ or 4 before pressing MD&TAPE REC, recording starts from the selected track (except when Program play mode is selected).

The MD REC and REC indicators start flashing on the display.

After the recording, the CD player, MD recorder and the cassette deck stop automatically.

To stop recording, press 7.

“WRITING” flashes in the main display for a while.

To record a single track during play or pause

On the main unit ONLY:

While playing back or pausing a track you want to record, press MD&TAPE REC.

The playback of the track is stopped, and the same track starts playing from the beginning again. This time, the MD recorder and cassette deck start recording the track.

After the track is recorded, both playback and recording stop automatically.

To change the information shown in the main display

On the remote control ONLY:

Press DISP/CHARA.

Each time you press the button, the information in the main display alternates between the recording indication and the clock indication.

When recording from a CD-R/RW

You cannot make a digital recording from a digital-copied CD-R/RW on an MD. “SCMS CANNOT COPY” appears in the main display and an analog recording starts (see page 70).

When recording on an MD and a tape at the same time

A 4-second blank before the first track is not made on the tape.
