5Adjust the speaker output levels (–10 dB to +10 dB).

Adjust the center speaker and rear speaker levels comparing to the sound from the front speakers.

•To adjust the center speaker level, press CENTER +/–.

•To adjust the left rear speaker level, press REAR-L +/–.

•To adjust the right rear speaker level, press REAR-R +/–.

6 Press TEST again to stop the test tone.

NOTES:

•When selecting “PL II MUSIC,” “PL II MOVIE,” “DOLBY D,” or “DTS SURR” as the surround mode, the SURROUND indicator lights up.

•You can adjust the speaker output levels without outputting the test tone.

•When selecting DVD, AUX, or AUX DIGITAL as the source, you can also adjust the speaker output levels using the choice menu. See pages 59 and 65.

•When you have set the center speaker and rear speakers to

“NONE,” the test tone does not come out from those speakers, and you cannot adjust the output level of those speakers. (See pages 64 and 70.)

•You can output the test tone in any surround mode, or even when surround mode is not activated.

Using DAP Modes and All Channel Stereo

Once you have adjusted the sound, the adjustment is memorized for each source.

•You cannot use the DAP modes and All Channel Stereo if the rear speakers are deactivated.

•You cannot adjust the effect level for “ALL CH ST.”

1Start playing 2 channel software—either analog or Linear PCM.

When playing a conponent connected to the AUX IN or the DIGITAL IN jack, change the source to AUX or AUX DIGITAL.

2Press SURROUND MODE repeatedly until one of the DAP modes—“LIVE CLUB,” “DANCE CLUB,” “HALL,” “PAVILION”—or “ALL CH ST.” appears on the display.

The DSP indicator also lights up on the display window.

If you like to adjust sound, go to step 3.

3 Press SOUND.

The 10 keys are activated for sound adjustments.

4Adjust the speakers output levels (–10 dB to +10 dB).

•To adjust the left rear speaker level, press REAR•L +/–.

•To adjust the right rear speaker level, press REAR•R +/–.

For “ALL CH ST.” only:

• To adjust the center speaker level, press CENTER +/–.

5For DAP modes only:

Press EFFECT to select the effect level (1 to 5) you want.

Each time you press the button, the effect level changes as follows:

]DSP EFFECT 1 ] DSP EFFECT 2 ] DSP EFFECT 3

]DSP EFFECT 4 ] DSP EFFECT 5 ] (back to the beginning)

As the number increases, the selected mode becomes stronger (normally, set it to “EFFECT 3”).

NOTES:

•When selecting DVD, AUX, or AUX DIGITAL as the source, you can also adjust the speaker output level using the choice menu. See pages 59 and 65.

•You cannot select any DAP mode and All Channel Stereo when software encoded with Dolby Digital or DTS Digital Surround is played back.
