BConnecting to a TV with an S-video jack

If your TV has an S-VIDEO input, you can get better picture quality by connecting it with the S-VIDEO output of the unit using an S-video cable instead of connecting the video input of the TV to the VIDEO jack of the unit.

NOTES

Be sure to connect the red and white plugs of the audio cable to the FRONT RIGHT/LEFT jacks on the rear of the unit, as shown in the illustration.

When the RGB/COMP. - Y/C selector is set to “Y/C,” do not use the composite video out jack. (In this case, only luminance signal is output from the composite video out jack, resulting a colorless picture.)

Set [ANALOG OUT] in the [AUDIO] preference display to [2-CH STEREO] (see page 39).

If you use a multi-color system TV, you can play discs recorded on both PAL and NTSC systems by setting the PAL - NTSC - REMOTE selector to either “PAL” or “NTSC” accordingly.

When the PAL - NTSC - REMOTE selector is set to “NTSC,” the [NTSC] indicator lights up in the display window.

The “REMOTE” position of the PAL - NTSC - REMOTE selector is used to select PAL or NTSC system with the PAL/NTSC button on the remote control unit (for details, see page 6).

Change the PAL - NTSC - REMOTE selector position in stop mode or with no disc inserted. The changed setting is not effective if you change the selector position in playback mode.
