NOTES

If you set the PAL - NTSC - REMOTE selector on the rear panel to “PAL,” component signals cannot be output correctly from the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks.

There are some progressive TV and High-Definition TV sets that are not fully compatible with the unit, resulting in the unnatural picture when playing back a DVD VIDEO disc in the Progressive scanning mode. In such a case, use the Interlaced scanning mode. To check the compatibility of your TV set, contact your local JVC customer service center.

All JVC progressive TV and High-Definition TV sets are fully compatible with the unit (Example: AV-61S902).

DConnecting to a TV with the SCART connector

You can enjoy using the unit by simply connecting it to your television set with a 21-pin SCART cable.

PAL

The PAL - NTSC - REMOTE selector is factory preset to “PAL.” Set the selector to “PAL” or “NTSC” to match the color system of your TV (see also the NOTES below).

NOTES

Set [ANALOG OUT] in the [AUDIO] preference display to [2-CH STEREO] (see page 39).

If you use a multi-color system TV, you can play discs recorded on both PAL and NTSC systems by setting the PAL - NTSC - REMOTE selector to either “PAL” or “NTSC” accordingly.

When the PAL - NTSC - REMOTE selector is set to “NTSC,” the [NTSC] indicator lights up in the display window.

If you set the PAL- NTSC - REMOTE selector on the rear panel to “PAL” and hold down the VFP - PROGRESSIVE SCAN button on the remote control unit so that the Progressive scanning mode is activated (the PROGRESSIVE indicator on the display window turns on), picture may be distorted or no picture may appear on the TV screen.

Setting the RGB/COMP. - Y/C selector

When you connect the unit to a TV with the SCART connector, set the RGB/COMP. - Y/C selector correctly according to your TV.

If your TV only accommodates the composite video signal, set the selector to “RGB/COMP.”

If your TV accommodates Y/C signals, set the selector to “Y/C” so that you can enjoy better-quality pictures.

If your TV accommodates RGB signals, set the selector to “RGB/COMP.”
