GUIA DE COCINA

Cuando cueza arroz, le recomendamos que lo cubran con agua caliente para que sea más rápida la cocción (cocina rápida). 1 taza de arroz no cocido hará 2 tazas de arroz. Se puede cocer alimentos que tienen tiempos de cocción muy diferentes pero eso requiere varias operaciones para remover la comida que está lista. Para evitarlo, se aconseja preparar comida con el mismo tiempo de cocción.

No hace falta descongelar comida congelada, pero se alargará el tiempo de cocción.

Frutas y Hortalizas

O Corte gruesos tallos de la col, el brócoli, o coliflor.

O Utilice el tiempo mínimo necesario para verduras de hoja verde. Un sobre cocinado, dará lugar a la degradación del color y el sabor.

O Remueva el contenido o la mitad del tiempo de cocción.

Carne / Aves

O Use siempre el nivel inferior para cocinar carnes y aves. Use cortes tiernos y magros de carne y aves.

O Quite la grasa tanto como sea posible antes de cocer al vapor

O Compruebe la cocción de la carne antes de servir. Pinche con un cuchillo o un tenedor para asegurarse de que el centro esté cocido y que los jugos salgan claros. El Departamento de Agricultura de EE.UU. recomienda cocinar las carnes picadas (carne de res, ternera, cordero y cerdo) a una temperatura interna de 160°F/71°C (y las aves picadas hasta 165°F/74°C. Steak cocinar a una temperatura interna de 145°F/63°C es medio poco hecho, 160°F/71°C es medio, y 170°F/77°C está bien hecho. Cocine las pechugas de pollo a 170°F/77°C y baquetas a 180°F/82°C.

O Use un termómetro para carnes para asegurarse de que la carne y las aves alcancen una temperatura interna segura.

O Las salchichas deben estar bien cocidas antes de cocer al vapor.

Pescado / Marisco
