If fan operates but compessor does not start:

2.Check the power supply to be sure the outlet works. (Plug in a lamp to test if the outlet is energized.)

3.Check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

4.Check water pan:

a)To see if it needs emptying. This is confirmed by red pan-full warning light (on models so equipped).

b)To see if float is free.

5.See if the selected humidity level has been attained.

6.Room temperature and humidity level may be below the operating limits, refer to the performance chart attached to the water pan.

If fan operates but compessor does not start:

1.Compressor makes clicking sound which may be caused by:

(i)Low line voltage (minimum should be 103.5V).

(ii)Too many appliances on one circuit.

(iii)Incorrect type of extension cord used.

2.Refer to Page 2 for "Electrical Requirements".

If dehumidifier runs but collects insufficient water:

1.The evaporator coil may be blocked. Refer to "ROOM TEMPERATURE" on page 2.

2.Humidity level is low.

3.Refer to the performance chart attached to the water pan.

If dehumidifier still does not run right:

Call your nearest Sears Service Centre. Sears technicians are specially trained to do the work. When you call, give them the complete model and serial number. You will find the information on a metal plate located in the rear of the unit behind the moisture pan.

CARE AND UPKEEP OF YOUR KENMORE DEHUMIDIFIER

WARNING: SHOCK OR INJURY HAZARD - Before cleaning be sure to unplug power cord from outlet. Handle the dehumidifier with care. Watch out for sharp metal edges and fins on the inner coil.

Cleaning Your Dehumidifier:

Always unplug the power cord before cleaning the dehumidifier. Dust the grilles or louvers with a soft brush or the dusting attachment of your vacuum cleaner.

Every few weeks wash the inside of the moisture pan with a sponge or soft cloth and a mild detergent to prevent the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria.

Once or twice each season, remove dust and lint from the rear coils with a soft brush. On models with Filter-back feature gently pry the Filter-back from the sides of the cabinet to expose the coils. Rinse the Filter-back in warm water, dry thoroughly before replacing.

On units not so equipped, the filter-back may be purchased through any Sears parts depart- ment. Please quote part No. 3-70128-005.

To clean dehumidifier cabinet, use a damp cloth. Dry with a soft cloth. Never use solvents, cleaning fluids, abrasive cleaners or strong detergents.

CAUTION: Do not wash nor allow water to contact any electrical components. Don't plug dehumidifier in until it is completely dry.

IMPORTANT

It is recommended to wait a minimum of 5 min- utes before turning the unit on after the com- pressor stops running. This time allows pres- sure inside the unit to equalize and to cool down or re-set of PTC relay for a full torque start on the compressor.
