5. Pandora®

5.1 Requirements Pandora®

Requirements for listening to Pandora® are as follows:

A smartphone with the latest Pandora application installed.

A Pandora account (if you do not have an account, create one for free using the mobile app or on www.pandora.com).

An active internet connection.

iPhone or iPod touch

Apple iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 3 or later isntalled

Latest version of the Pandora application (search App Store for Pandora and install).

iPhone/ iPod touch connected to this unit with a KCA-iP102.

Android™

Latest version of the Pandora Android application (search Google Play for Pandora and install).

Bluetooth must be built in and the following profiles must be supported.

-- SPP (Serial Port Profile)

-- A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile)

BlackBerry®

Visit www.pandora.com from the built in browser to download the Pandora application.

Bluetooth must be built in and the following profiles must be supported.

-- SPP (Serial Port Profile)

-- A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile)

Notes

Pandora® is available only in the U.S, Australia and New Zealand.

Because Pandora® is a third-party service, the specifications are subject to change without prior notice. Accordingly, compatibility may be impaired or some or all of the services may become unavailable.

Some functions of Pandora® cannot be operated from this unit.

5.2 Start listening

Android or BlackBerry

Preparation :

You need to register your smartphone before using it with this unit. See <12.2 Registering a Bluetooth device> (page 30).

Disconnect the iPhone or iPod touch.

Make sure “ON” is selected for “PANDORA SRC”. <5.5 Pandora source control> (page 17)

1Open the Pandora® application on your smartphone.

2Press [8SRC] to select PANDORA.

-- Speakers are selectable by the Bluetooth setting “BT HF/AUDIO”. The default is the front speakers. See <BT HF/AUDIO> (page 37).

iPhone or iPod touch Preparation :

Make sure “ON” is selected for “PANDORA SRC”. <5.5 Pandora source control> (page 17)

1Open the Pandora® application on your smartphone.

2Open the cover.

3Connect an iPhone to the USB terminal. The source switches, and broadcasting starts automatically from your current station.

Removing the iPhone

1Press [8SRC] to select a source other than “PANDORA”, “AHA“, “IHEATRADIO“ or “iPod”.

2Remove the iPhone.

Error messages

CHECK DEVICE: Any device ready for Pandora internet radio reception is not connected to this unit.

UPGRADE APP: The Pandora application is an older version which the unit can not support. Confirm that the Pandora application is the latest version.

LICENSE ERROR: The Pandora® internet radio is accessed from a country to which it is not delivered.

5.3 Basic operations

Thumbs up

Press [2 4].

Thumbs down

Press [1 5].

Song skip

Press [F].

Pause and play

Press [6 L].

Station Search mode

1Press [ 1] to enter Station Search mode.

2Turn the volume knob to select A–Z(stations are displayed in alphabetical order) or BY DATE (stations are displayed in date order), then press the knob.

3Turn the volume knob to select a desired station, then press the knob.

STATION NAME ; TITLE/ARTIST ; ALBUM/ARTIST ; P-TIME (playing time) ; CLOCK

Error messages

RATING ERROR: Registration of Thumbs Up/Down has failed.

NO SKIPS: No more skips are allowed now. Retry after a while.

NO STATIONS: There is no receivable station.

SEARCH ERROR: No station has been searched for.

NOT EXIST: The registered station has been deleted or the device is not the registered one.

5.4 New station creation

You can create a new station name using the name of the song or artist you are listening.

1Press and hold the volume knob. “NEW STATION” appears.

2Turn the volume knob to select FROM ARTIST (creation from an artist name) or FROM TRACK (creation from a song name), then press the knob.

“*** STATION” appears.

To cancel the New station registration Press [ 6].

Error messages

ADD ERROR: Registration of the station has failed.

STATION LIMT: The number of registered stations has reached the upper limit. Retry after deleting an unnecessary station.

5.5 Pandora source control

You can turn on/off the Pandora source.

Press [8SRC] to select STANDBY.

Press and hold [3] to [5] to memorize the current station.

Recall the stations in the memory

Press [3] to [5] to recall memorized station.

Display Selection

Press [SCRL DISP] repeatedly to select an information.

 

SRC, then press the knob.

Turn the volume knob to select ON or OFF,

 

then press the knob.

 

ON: Turns on the Pandora source.

 

OFF: Turns off the Pandora source.

Press and hold [6] to exit.
