You have doubts about whether your hob is working correctly. This does not necessarily mean that there is a breakdown. Nevertheless, check the following points.

If any crack on the vitroceramic glass can be noticed, or the glass
is broken DO NOT USE THE UNIT. Disconnect the electrical
supply to the unit by tripping the breaker off (if the unit is hard- wired to the supply) or just unplug the unit (if there is a plug on the supply cable).
