Removing the cover

Important

Read “Important safety information” on page v and “Handling static-sensitive devices” on page 18 before removing the computer cover.

To remove the computer cover:

1.Remove any media (diskettes, CDs, or tapes) from the drives, shut down your operating system, and turn off all attached devices.

2.Unplug all power cords from electrical outlets.

3.Disconnect all cables attached to the computer. This includes power cords, input/output (I/O) cables, and any other cables that are connected to the computer.

4.Remove any locking devices such as a padlock that secure the cover.

5.Press the cover-release button on the top of the computer cover, slide the cover to the rear, and remove it. If your computer has screws to secure the computer cover, remove the screws, and then remove the cover.
