This chapter describes the	reinstallation procedures for W
and its software for your	computer if the original, preloa
system and device drivers	have been deleted.

Overall Procedure

1 Have

the Windows

installation

package

at

hand.

Back

up

your

software

and

personal

data files on the

Create

the

Windows

98

Startup

Disk

from

the

preloaded

Windows

98

as

follows:

a)

Double-click

Add/Removeon

Program

in

the

Control

Panel.

b)

Click

on

theStartup

Disk

tab.

c)

Follow

the

instruction

on

the

screen.

4 Create the installation diskettes of the device drivers Diskette Factory program. You need to create at least following device driver diskettes:

ThinkPad		Configuration				Utility Diskette for Windows 98
program						Utility Diskette for DOS, Personalization
						Data Disk II for Windows 98
Display		driver			Video Features Diskette (NM2160) for
					Windows		95/98
Audio device			driver		Audio Features			Diskette		for Windows 95/98
5	Reinstall		Windows		98	and	the	software.
Note: The Windows 98 Startup Disk includes real-mode CD-ROM
	drivers,		so	that		you	can use		the	built-in CD-ROM drive
	you start			the	system		with	the	CD-ROM.
