2 - 6 Symbol DS6707 Digital Imager Scanner Product Reference Guide

Aiming
Hold the digital imager scanner between two and nine inches (depending on symbol density; see Decode Zones on
page 2-8) from the symbol, centering the aiming pattern on the symbol. Ensure the cross hair falls on the symbol.
For the DS6707-DP, ensure part of the symbol is visible within the donut-shaped pattern.
The aiming pattern is smaller when the digital imager scanner is closer to the symbol and larger when it is farther
from the symbol. Scan symbols with smaller bars or elements (mil size) closer to the digital imager scanner, and
those with larger bars or elements (mil size) farther from the digital imager scanner.
The digital imager scanner can also read a bar code presented within the aiming pattern but not centered. The top
examples in Figure 2-5 and Figure 2-6 show acceptable aiming options, while the bottom examples can not
decode.

falls on the symbol.
