GETTING STARTED
RECEIVING A TRUNKED OR CONVENTIONAL CALLREPEATER OR TALKAROUND J MODE (CONVENTIONAL OPERATION ONLY)
Talkaround mode enables y ou to comm unicate
with another radio when either:
• The repeater is not operating
–or–
• Your radio is out of the repeater’s range but
within communicating distance of another
radio.
Note: The J symbol appears on the LCD
screen when talkaround mode is
selected.
To select either repeater mode or
talkaround mode:
Press the preprogrammed Repeater/
Talkaround button (see page20) to toggle
between repeater mode and talkaround mode.
–or–
1Turn your radio on.
2Adjust your radio’s volume (see page28).
3Select the desired trunked or conventional
zone (see page 28, "Selecting a Trunked
Zone and Talkgroup" or page 30, "Selecting a
Conventional Zone and Channel".
• Make sure the PTT button is released.
4Listen for voice activity. The LED indicator
flashes red when your radio is receiving.
1) to enter menu mode.

3) to select

5) to confirm your selection.
