Formaximum flexibility, you can connect 8-wire stepper motors in either aseriesor parallel configuration. Connecting the windings in series as showninFigure 18 producesthe most torque per amp, but has the disadvantage ofhigher inductance and poorer high-speed performance.

Alternatively,you can wire 8-wire stepper motors in parallel as shown inFigure 19. This configuration produces better high-speed performance butrequiresmore current t o produce ratedtorque.
