Changing A (Auto) Mode Settings (Shooting Menu)

Metering

A(auto) M d (Shooting menu) M Metering

The process of measuring the brightness of the subject to determine exposure is known as metering.

Choose how the camera meters exposure.

GMatrix (default setting)

The camera sets exposure for the entire frame. Recommended in most situations.

qCenter-weighted

The camera meters the entire frame but assigns greatest weight to the subject in the center of the frame. Classic meter for portraits; preserves background details

while letting lighting conditions at the center of the frame determine exposure. Can be used with focus lock (A 46) to meter off-center subjects.

BNote on Metering

When using digital zoom, Metering is set to Center-weighted, and the metered area is not displayed in the monitor.

DMetering Area

The active metering area is displayed in the monitor when Center-weightedis selected for Metering.
