Autofocus

Autofocus is available only with AF-S lenses; other lenses sup- port manual focus only. Set the camera focus mode to AF-S(the camera will not focus in other autofocus modes). The only AF- area mode available is Single-pointand the camera focuses on the subject in the center focus area only. Face priority is not sup- ported. In some cases, a beep may sound, the in-focus indicator may be displayed, and pictures can be taken when the camera is not in focus; if this occurs, focus manually.

Manual Focus

Follow the steps below to focus manually when using the FT1 with a NIKKOR F mount lens.

1 Select manual focus mode.

In the shooting menu, select Focus mode, highlight Manual focus, press 2, and choose the magnification for the manual focus display from 10×, 5×, and 2× (0 132).

Rotate the lens focus ring until the subject is in focus.
