jBattery Type

To improve battery performance, select the type of battery currently inserted in the camera in the setup menu. The default setting is [Alkaline]. When any other type of battery is used, turn the camera on and change the setting (c 101).

kAlkaline Batteries

Performance of alkaline batteries may vary greatly depending on the manufac- turer. Choose a reliable brand.

kAlternative Power Resources

To power the camera continuously for extended periods, use an AC Adapter EH-65A (available separately from Nikon) (c 102). Do not, under any circum- stances, use another make or model of AC adapter. Failure to observe this precaution could result in overheating or in damage to the camera.

kPower Saving Function

If no operations are performed for about five seconds, the monitor will dim to save power. Using any of the camera controls will reactivate the display. If no operations are performed for about 30 seconds, the monitor will turn off; after a further three minutes, the camera will turn off automatically.
