Macro Mode

Macro mode is used for taking pictures of objects as close as 8 cm (3.2 in.). Note that the flash may be unable to light the entire subject at distances of less than 50 cm (1 ft. 8 in.).

1Press the multi selector p (macro mode).

The macro menu is displayed.

2Press the multi selector Hor Ito choose ON

and press the k button.

The macro mode icon (F) is displayed.

If a setting is not applied by pressing the k button within a few seconds, the selection will be canceled.

3Rotate the zoom control to frame the picture.

The closest distance at which the camera can focus varies depending on the zoom position. The camera can focus at the shortest distances when Fand the zoom indicator glow green with the zoom indicator positioned to the left (wider angle) of K.

At the zoom position one step to the right (telephoto) of the maximum wide-angle zoom position, the

camera can focus on subjects as close as 8 cm (3.2 in.) to the lens. At the maximum wide-angle zoom position and Kzoom position, the camera can focus at a distance of 20 cm (8 in.).

CAutofocus

When using A(auto) mode, if Autofocus mode (A 48) is set to Full-time AF, the camera focuses continuously until focus is locked when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. Therefore, the sound of lens drive movement can be heard.

When using other shooting modes, Full-time AF is turned on automatically when macro mode is turned on.

Basic Photography and Playback: A (Auto) Mode

The macro mode setting applied in A (auto) mode is stored in the camera’s memory even after the camera is turned off, and reapplied the next time A (auto) mode is selected.
