Main Features

The DS-2000 digital voice recorder stores highly compressed DSS audio files on SmartMedia cards.

The DS-2000 supports two recording modes: SP (Standard Playback) mode and LP (Long Playback) mode (P.22). The included 16MB SmartMedia card records approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes* in SP mode and approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes* in LP mode. An optional 128MB SmartMedia card can hold up to 44 hours and 40 minutes* of recordings.

The Variable Control Voice Actuator (VCVA) reduces memory usage by turning the recorder off when it senses silence (P.28).

Recorded audio files can be stored in three separate folders for easy identification at a later time.

The LCD screen displays file numbers, a real-time counter, remaining recording time, current time and date, operating mode, and warnings in a clear format.

The editing capability allows you to insert additional recording into previously recorded audio files (P.20).

In combination with IBM’s ViaVoice speech recognition software (optionally available from IBM), the voice data can automatically converted to text.

*The recording time available may be shorter than specified if a large number of short recordings are made. (Use the remaining time and recorded time only as references.)
