HD Up-Conversion (DVD-S52)

When a Panasonic DVD Player is connected to an HDMI compatible display, DVD can be up-converted to 720p or 1080i for output. The converted images have much higher resolution than the 576i images of conventional component output. You get beautiful, high-resolution images that are perfect for today's large-screen HD flat panel displays.

HD Enhancer (DVD-S52)

Ordinary video up-converters produce images by uniformly interpolating the original video signal. This produces images with thicker edges and decreased sharpness. The HD Enhancer, on the other hand, keeps the edges sharp while correcting other parts of the image to produce razor-sharp pictures with outstanding detail. Its effect is especially noticeable on a large screen.

Because pixel interpolation is uniform across the image, contour regions widen and blur.

108MHz/12-bit Video D/A Conveter (DVD-S52/S32) This high-speed, high-precision circuit converts DVD video signals using 4-times oversampling for progressive scan playback and 8-times oversampling for interlace scan playback. The high-density conversion process results in clear, beautiful pictures with high resolution and high S/N ratio.

High Quality Sound

Sound Enhancement (DVD-S52/S32) When a source is being processed, the sound characteristics of vacuum-tube amps is added into the reconstructed music signal. According to the type of music source, you can choose to have sound reproduction with the warmth unique to vacuum-tube amps.

H.Bass for TV (DVD-S52/S32)

TV speakers typically suffer from inadequate low-range sound performance. The H.Bass function helps compensate for this by mixing low-frequency sound components into the front right and left signals and by taking advantage of a natural characteristic of the human ear. H.Bass creates harmonic components of sounds that are too low for the speakers to reproduce. The listener is able to perceive the original sound from the harmonic components. The result is a rich, dynamic TV sound that actually exceeds the reproduction range of the TV speakers.

Night Sound Mode (DVD-S52/S32)

This mode reduces the volume of the loudest sounds in a movie, such as explosions, without affecting dialogue. It solves the problem of hard-to-hear dialogue when the volume is adjusted downward to accommodate the louder sounds
