APPENDIX A. UPGRADING CM9740-MXB FIRMWARE

CAUTION: Only qualified personnel observing electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions should perform the proce- dure below. Always wear a grounding strap connected to an approved grounding source when working on or near exposed electronic components. Handle circuit boards by their edges.

NOTE: You do not need to turn off power to the CM9740-MXB in order to upgrade matrix bay firmware.

To upgrade CM9740-MXB firmware to version 8.04, do the following:

1.Remove the front panel of the matrix bay by loosening the eight captive panel screws indicated in Figure 1.

2.Remove the video output card from slot 17 of the matrix bay (refer to Figure 2). To remove the card, grasp the two card handles and firmly pull the card out of the connectors on the backplane and associated rear panel card. The video output card slides out of the slot. Note that, unless the audible alarm on the power supply has been disabled, the alarm beeps when the video output card is removed.
