SD Memory Card

This camera uses an SD Memory Card. Captured images and sound files are saved on the SD Memory Card if a card is inserted in the camera. They are saved in the built-in memory if a card is not inserted. (p.34)

• Be sure to use this camera to format an SD Memory Card that is unused or has been used on another camera. Refer to “Formatting an SD Memory Card or the Built-in Memory” (p.158) for instructions on formatting.

Make sure that the camera is turned off before inserting or removing the SD Memory Card.

Allow the camera to dry completely before changing the SD Memory Card. Avoid changing the card where the camera is likely to get wet or dirty, and make sure that your hands are dry.

Do not apply excessive pressure to the front or back of the camera when opening and closing the battery/card cover as this may dislodge the waterproof packing. If the packing is not in the correct position, the waterproof performance of the camera will be compromised.

The still picture storage capacity varies depending on the capacity

of the SD Memory Card and the selected number of recorded pixels and quality level. (p.31)

The power indicator blinks while the SD Memory Card is being accessed (data is being recorded or read).

Backing Up Data

The camera may not be able to access data in the built-in memory in the case of a malfunction. Use a computer or other device to back up important data in another location.
