Trouble Shooting Tips- DVD
Symptoms Items to Check and Actions to f ollow
No picture • Refer to your TV’s manual for correct Video I n channel selection.
Change the TV channel until you see t he DVD screen.
• Check if the TV is switched on.
Distorted picture • Sometimes a smal l amount of picture distortion may appear depe nding on the disc being played back.
This is not a malfunction.
Completely distorted
picture or black/w hite
picture with DVD
• Make sure the disc is compatible with the DVD pl ayer.
• Ensure that the DVD player’s TV Type is set to match that of the Dis c and your TV.
No sound or distorted
sound
• Adjust the volume of TV.
• Ensure to select stereo output o n your disc (except multichannel).
Disc can’t be played • The DVD+R/CD-R mus t be finalized.
• Ensure the disc label is facing up.
• Check if the disc is defective by try ing another disc.
• Region code incorrect.
Picture freezes
momentarily during
playback
• Check the disc for fingerprint s/scratches and clean with a soft c loth wiping from centre to edge.
The player does not
respond to the
remote control
• Aim the remote control directly at the se nsor on the front of the player.
• Reduce the distance to the player.
• Replace the batteries in the remot e control.
• Re-insert the batter ies with their polarities (+/– signs) as indic ated.
Player does not
respond to some
operating commands
during playback.
• Operations may not be permitt ed by the disc. Refer to the instructions of the disc j acket.
DVD Player cannot
read CDs/DVDs
• Use a commonly available cleaning CD /DVD to clean the lens before sending the DVD player for
repair.
Unable to play DivX
movies.
• Check that the DivX file is encoded in ‘Hom e Theater’ mode with DivX certified encoder.
Menu items cannot be
selected
• Press STOP twice before pressing SYSTE M MENU.
• Depending on the disc availability, some menu it ems cannot be selected.
