Hearing safety
Listen at a moderate volume.
Using headphones at a high volume ca n impair your hear ing. This produc t
can produce sound s in decibel rang es that may cause hear ing loss for a
normal perso n, even for exposur e less than a minute . The higher deci bel
ranges are offe red for those that may h ave already exper ienced some
hearing loss.
Sound can be deceiving. Over time yo ur hearing ‘comfor t level’ adapts
to higher volumes of s ound. So after pr olonged listen ing, what sounds
‘normal’ can ac tually be loud and h armful to your hea ring. To guard
against this, s et your volume to a safe le vel before your hear ing adapts
and leave it there .
To establish a safe vo lume level:
Set your volume control at a low setti ng.
Slowly increase the sound unti l you can hear it comfor tably and clea rly,
without distortion.
Listen for reasonable periods of t ime:
Prolonged exposure to sound, ev en at normally ‘sa fe’ levels, can also
cause hearing lo ss.
Be sure to use your equipment rea sonably and take a ppropriate br eaks.
Be sure to observe the following guide lines when using your he adphones.
Listen at reasonable volume s for reasonable p eriods of time.
Be careful not to adjust the volu me as your hearing a dapts.
Do not turn up the volume so high that yo u can’t hear what ’s around you.
You should use caut ion or temporar ily discontinu e use in potentially
hazardous si tuations. Do not us e headphones whi le operating a
motorized vehicl e, cycling, ska teboarding, et c.; it may create a tr af c
hazard and is ill egal in many areas .
