A

Amplier
A device, either a single s tage or a large scale
circuit with multipl e stages for creating ga in,
i.e. it makes small signal s larger.
Antenna
A device, such as a rod or wire , which picks up
a received radio frequ ency signal or radiate s a
transmitted RF s ignal.
ATSC (Advanced Television Systems
Committee)
The Advanced Television Syste ms Committee,
Inc., is an internati onal, non-prot or ganization
developing voluntar y standards for digi tal
television. The high de nition television
standards dened by t he ATSC produce wide
screen 16:9 images up to 1920x1080 pi xels
in size -- more than six time s the display
resolution of the earl ier standard. Howev er,
many different image size s are also supported ,
so that up to six standar d-denition “vi rtual
channels” can be broadca st on a single 6 MHz
TV channel.

Coaxial
A single copper conductor, sur rounded with
a layer of insulation, covered by a su rrounding
copper shield and nally, an insu lating jacket.
An unbalanced transmi ssion line with const ant
impedance. In audio, thi s type is commonly
used for low level, line signals t erminated in
RCA connectors.
