Before you call an engineer
If,contrary to expectation, you experience any difficulty in
operatingthis video recorder, it may be caused by one of the
reasonsmentioned below. You can also call the customer
servicein your country.
Youwill find the telephone numbers in the enclosed guarantee
leaflet.
Theset does not respond to any button being pressed:
•Nopower supply.
•Aprogrammed recording is currently being made.
•Childlock is active.
•Technicaldisturbance: disconnect from the mains for 30 sec-
onds,then re-connect. If this does not have any effect, you can:
1.Disconnect from mains.
2.Re-connect to mains whilst holding down the STANDBY m
buttonon the video recorder until the message disappears from
thedisplay. All stored data will be reset (cleared).
Cassettejammed:
•Don’tuse force. Pull out the mains plug for a moment.
Remotecontrol does not operate:
•Remotecontrol not pointed toward the video recorder.
•Batteriesare exhausted. Change batteries.
•Remotecontrol command wrong. Read the paragraph ’Switching
remotecontrol command’ in chapter ’ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS’.
Noplayback from video recorder:
•Norecording on the cassette: Change cassette.
•TheVCR programme number on the TV set was incorrectly
selectedor incorrectly set: On the TV set, select the correct
programmenumber.
•Theconnecting cable between the TV set and the video recorder
hascome loose: Check cable.
Poorplayback from video recorder:
•TVset not properly adjusted.
•Cassettebadly worn or of poor quality: Use new cassette.
•Trackingnot properly adjusted, video heads dirty: Turn to chapter
’PLAYBACK’and read the section ’Eliminating picture interfer-
ence’.
Norecording possible:
•TVchannel not stored or wrongly selected: Check TV pro-
grammesstored.
•Cassettewith erase protection has been loaded: Undo erase
protection.
Programmedrecording does not function:
•TIMERnot set properly: Check TIMER blocks.
•Time/datewrongly programmed: Check time/date.
•Acassette with erase protection has been loaded: Undo erase
protection.
•’PDC’or ’VPS’ switched on but ’PDC/VPS time’ wrong: Enter
PDC/VPStime exactly to the minute. Check aerial.
Pictureor sound interference on TV reception e.g. when
tunedto ’CH5’:
•Turnto Chapter 5 ’ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS’ and read in the
sections’Poor TV reception - Optimize the modulator’and
’Switchingoff the modulator’.
•Haveyour aerial checked.
