Itis normal for a new chain to stretch dur-
ingthe first 15 minutes of operation. You
should recheck your chain tensionfre-
quentlyan d adjust thec hain tensionas
required. See CHECK CHAIN TENSION
section.
Replacethe old chain when it becomes
worn or damaged. Use only the Low
Kickback replacement chain specified
inthe list of av ailable replacement parts.
Thechain must comply withkickback re-
quirementsof ANSI B175.1 when tested
with thissaw. See your authorized ser-
vicedealer to replace and sharpen indi-
vidual cutterson y our chain.
TO REPLACE CHAIN:
1. Disconnect the chain saw from the
power source.
2. Removebar clamp nuts.
3. Removebar clamp and old chain.

4. Turn the adjusting screw counter-
clockwise to move the adjustingpin
almostas far as it will go to the rear.
Do not remove the adjusting screw
fromthe bar clamp.
5. Carefullyremovethe new chain from
thepackage. Holdchainwith cutters
facingas shown.

6. Placechain aroundthe sprocket and
fit the drive links intothe guide bar
grooveand then into the teeth of the
sprocket inthe tip of the guide bar.
7. Holdthe guide bar against the saw
frame and install thebar clamp. Be
sure adjustingpin is in the adjusting
pin holein the bar.

8. Securethe guide bar and bar clamp
with the bar clamp nuts; tighten
fingertight only.
CAUTION:If saw chainis ins talled back-
wards, the saw will vibrate excessively
and will not cut wood.
