ASSEMBLY
WARNING: If rec eived assembled,
repeatall steps to ensure your unit is pr operly
assembled and all fasteners are secure.
Examine parts for damage. Do not use dam-

It is normal for the fuel filter to rattle in the
empty fuel tank.
Findingfuel or oil residue on muffler is normal
due to carburetor adjustments and testing
doneby themanufacturer.

INSTALLINGTRIMMER ATTACH-

MENT

CAUTION: Wheninstalling trimmer at tach-
ment,place the unit on a flat surfac e for stabil-
ity.
1. Loosen thecoupler by turningthe knob
counterclockwise.

2. Remov e shipping protector from coupler.
3. Remov e the shaft cap from the trimmer
attachment (if present).
4. Posit ion locking/release button of attach-
ment intoguide r ecess of coupler.
5. Push the attachment into the coupler until
theloc king/release button snaps into the
primary hole.
6. Before using the unit, tighten the knob se-
curely by turning clockwise.

release button is locked in the primary hole
andthe knob is s ecurely tightened before op-
erating the unit. All attachments are designed
tobe us ed in the primary hole unless o therwise
stated in the applicable attachment instruction

ATTACH ING SHI ELD

WARNING : The shield must be prop-
erlyinstalled. The s hieldprovides partial protec-
tionfr omt heris k of thrown objects to the opera-
tora nd others and is equipped with a line limiter
blade which cuts excess line to the proper
length. The line limiter blade (on underside of
shield) is sharp and can cut you. For proper
orientationof shield, s eeK NOW YOUR TRIM-
MER illustration in OPERATION section.
1. Remov e wing nut from shield.
2. Inser t bracket into slot as shown.
3. Piv ot shield until bolt pass es through hole
inbr acket.
4. Sec urely tighten wing nut onto bolt.

ADJUSTING THE ASSIST HANDLE

WARNING : Whenadjustingthe as sist
handle,be sure it remains above the safety label
and below the mark or arrow on the shaft.
1. Loosen w ing nut on handle.
2. Rotate the handleon the shaft to an up-
right position; retighten wing nut.
