the engine starts.
5. Pull s tarter rope sharply until engine runs,
but no more than 5 pulls.
6. Allow theengine to run 10 sec onds, then
movethe c hoke lever to the OFF CHOKE
position.
7. Releas e the throttle lock by squeezing and
releasing the trigger.
NOTE:I f engine has not started, pull starter
rope5 more pulls. If engine still does not run, it
isprobably flooded. Proceed to STARTING A
FLOODEDENGINE.

STARTINGA FLOODED ENGINE

Flooded engines can be started by placing
theON/OFF s witch in the ON position and the
choke lever in the OFF CHOKE pos ition and
engaging the throttle lock as directed in the
STARTING A COLD ENGINE section; then,
pull the rope to clear the engine of excess
fuel. Startingcould require pulling thestarter
rope many times depending on how badly the
unit is flooded. If the unit still doesn’t s tart, refer
to the TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE or c all
1-800-554-6723.
SERVICE
WARNING: Ensure ON/OFF switch
is in the OFF position and disconnect the
spark plug before performing maintenance
except for carburetor adjustments.

Contact an authorized service dealer for re-
placement of damaged or worn parts.
SON/OFF Switch -- EnsureON/OFF switch
functions properly by moving the switch to the
OFF position. Make sure engine stops; then
restart engine and continue.
SFuelTank -- Do not use unit if fuel tank shows
signs of damage or leaks.

SBefore and after each use, inspect com-
pleteunit for loose or damaged part s. After
eachus e, clean the unit and labels using a
dampc loth with a mild detergent.

Cleaningthe air filter:

A dirty air filter decreases engine perform-
ance and increases fuel consumption and
harmful emissions. Always clean after every
5 hours of operation.
SClean the cover and the area around it to
keep debris from falling into the carburetor
chamber when the cover is removed.
SRemove parts as illustrated.
NOTE: Donot clean filter in gasoline or other
flammablesolvent. D oing so can create a fire
hazardor produc e harmful evaporative emis-
sions.
SWasht he filter in soap and water.
SAllow filter to dry.
SAdda few drops of oil to the filter; s queeze
filter to distribute oil.
SReplace parts.

INSPECT MUFFLER AND SPARK

ARRESTING SCREEN

WARNING : Themuffler on this prod-
uct contains chemicals known to the State of
California to cause cancer.
Asy our unit is used, carbon deposits build up
onthe muffler and spark arresting screen and
mustbe removed to av oid creating a fire haz-
ard or affecting engine performance.
For normal homeowner use, the muffler and
spark arresting screen will not require any
service. After 50 hours of use, we recom-
mend that your muffler be serviced or re-
placed by an authorized service dealer.
