CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS

WARNING: The chain will be mov- ing during most of this procedure. Wear your protective equipment and observe all safety precautions. The chain must not move at idle speed.

The carburetor has been carefully set at the factory. Adjustments may be necessary if you notice any of the following conditions:

SChain moves at idle. See IDLE SPEED--T

adjusting procedure.

SSaw will not idle. See IDLE SPEED--T ad- justing procedure.

Idle Speed-T

Allow engine to idle. If the chain moves, idle is too fast. If the engine stalls, idle is too slow. Adjust speed until engine runs without chain movement (idle too fast) or stalling (idle too slow).

STurn idle speed screw (T) clockwise to in-

crease engine speed.

STurn idle speed screw (T) counterclock- wise to decrease engine speed.

If you require further assistance or are unsure about performing this procedure, contact your authorized service dealer or call 1--800--554--6723.

BAR MAINTENANCE

If your saw cuts to one side, has to be forced through the cut, or been run with an improper amount of bar lubrication it may be neces- sary to service your bar. A worn bar will dam- age your chain and make cutting difficult.

After each use, ensure ON/STOP switch is in the STOP position, then clean all sawdust from the guide bar and sprocket hole.

To maintain guide bar:

SMove ON/STOP switch to the STOP posi- tion.

SLoosen and remove chain brake nuts and chain brake. Remove bar and chain from

saw.

SClean the oil holes and bar groove after each 5 hours of operation.

Remove Sawdust From

Guide Bar Groove

Oil Holes

S Burring of guide bar rails is a normal process of rail wear. Remove these burrs with a flat file.

SWhen rail top is uneven, use a flat file to re- store square edges and sides.

Worn Groove

Correct Groove

Replace guide bar when the groove is worn, the guide bar is bent or cracked, or when excess heating or burring of the rails occurs. If replacement is necessary, use only the guide bar specified for your saw in the repair parts list or on the decal located on the chain saw.

CHAIN SHARPENING

Chain sharpening is a complicated task that requires special tools. We recommended you refer chain sharpening to a professional chain sharpener.

IGNITION TIMING

Ignition timing is fixed and nonadjustable.

SPARK PLUG

The spark plug should be replaced each year to ensure the engine starts easier and runs better.

1.Loosen 3 screws on cylinder cover.

2.Remove the cylinder cover.

3.Pull off the spark plug boot.

4.Remove spark plug from cylinder and discard.

5.Replace with Champion RCJ--7Y spark plug and tighten with a 3/4 inch socket wrench. Tighten securely. Spark plug gap should be 0.025 inches.

6.Reinstall the spark plug boot.

7.Reinstall the cylinder cover and 3 screws Tighten securely.

STORAGE

WARNING: Stop engine and allow to cool, and secure the unit before storing or transporting in a vehicle. Store unit and fuel in an area where fuel vapors cannot reach sparks or open flames from water heaters, electric motors or switches, furnaces, etc.

The Poulan PP4620AVHD is a robust chainsaw engineered for homeowners and occasional users seeking a blend of performance, efficiency, and ease of use. This model is particularly well-suited for tackling medium to heavy-duty cutting tasks, such as tree trimming, firewood cutting, and storm cleanup.

One of the standout features of the PP4620AVHD is its powerful 46cc, 2-cycle engine. This engine delivers a strong performance and ensures efficient cutting through a variety of materials. With a top speed of approximately 9,000 RPM, users can expect swift cuts, making short work of logs and branches.

The ease of starting is a crucial aspect of the PP4620AVHD. It incorporates an advanced starting system with a spring-assist mechanism, reducing the effort needed to start the chainsaw. This feature is particularly appreciated during cold starts, allowing the user to spend less time struggling and more time cutting.

The chainsaw is equipped with an 18-inch bar and chain which strikes a balance between maneuverability and cutting capacity. This size is ideal for tackling larger logs while still being manageable for less experienced users. The chain is designed for quick and easy adjustments, ensuring that the user can maintain optimal tension without the need for additional tools.

Safety is a priority in any power tool, and the PP4620AVHD includes multiple safety features. It has a front hand guard to protect the user's hands from flying debris, and a chain brake that engages automatically during kickback situations. These features help ensure a safer cutting experience.

An additional characteristic of the PP4620AVHD is its AV technology (Anti-Vibration). This reduces vibrations felt by the user, which is crucial for extended use, minimizing fatigue and promoting comfort during operation.

For maintenance, the chainsaw has an easy-access air filter and fuel cap, allowing for straightforward cleaning and refueling. Regular maintenance is vital to prolong the life of any chainsaw, and Poulan's design supports user-friendliness in this regard.
