Measuring High Voltages
When you measure voltage in a high-voltage circuit, do not try to position both probes at once. Clamp one of the probes to the circuit’s neutral or ground lead using a Radio Shack insu- lated slip-on alligator clip (Cat. No. 270-354). Then probe for voltages with the other probe. This helps prevent you from ac- cidentally touching a hot wire.
