Setting Up Your TV

The first time you turn on your TV, the Initial Setup screens appear automatically. This setup routine guides you through the following steps to set up your HDTV:

Set the Menu Language

Complete Channel Search.

Note: Make sure you have signals connected to both the ANTENNA DIGITAL INPUT and the ANTENNA/CABLE ANALOG INPUT jacks on your HDTV before you perform the channel search on both sources.

Change the Channel List and Channel Labels

Note: Changing Lists and Labels can be time consuming. You can change these later through the Setup menu.

Run the Automatic Convergence

Note: For best results, repeat the Auto Convergence function (from the Setup menu) once the HDTV’s been running for an hour. You can access Auto Convergence in the Setup menu (see the User’s Manual for more information).

Watching TV...

Now you’re ready to watch TV! Your TV has two tuners: one for analog TV channels and one for off-air digital channels.

To see which tuner you’re on: look at the channel number that appears in the bottom left corner of your screen when you change channels—a ‘D’ appears next to the channel number on the digital tuner, while an ‘A’ appears next to the channel number on the analog tuner.

To switch between the tuners: press the ANT•CAB or ANTENNA button on your remote.

To tune directly to a regular channel: enter the channel number and press OK.

Digital channels can have both primary channels (like the analog channel number) and subchannels. These subchannels might offer programming that’s different from the primary channel. NOTE: Not all digital channels offer subchannels.

To tune directly to a digital subchannel: make sure you’re on the digital tuner; then, enter the primary channel number, press the right arrow button, enter the subchannel number, and press OK.
