Connecting to an Audio Device

Using an Optical (Digital) Cable Connection
Available devices: Digital Audio System, Amplifier, DVD home theater

When you connect a Digita l Audio System to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTI CAL) jack, decrease the volume
of both the TV and the system.

5.1 CH (channel) audio is available when you c onnect the TV to an external d evice supporting 5.1 CH.

When the receiver (amplif ier or DVD home theater) is set to on, you can he ar sound output from the TV ’s
optical jack. When the TV i s receiving a DTV signal, the T V will send 5.1 CH sound to the amplifier or DVD
home theater. When the source is a digit al component such as a DVD player / Bl u-ray player / cable box / STB
(Set-Top-Box) satellite receiver and you connectio n it to the TV via HDMI, you will only 2 CH a udio from the
amplifier or DVD home thea ter. If you want to hear 5.1 CH audio, connect the digital audio out j ack from your
DVD / Blu-ray player / cable box / STB satel lite receiver directly to an ampli fier or home theater.
