Apart from these options, there also is a Factory Reset option av ailable that is used to reverse any
unnecessary changes being made by the user knowingly/unknowingly. It replaces the m ain settings
and configuration files in the system with the default files that were present at the time of ins talling the
OS.

It is used to upgrade the STC OS. During the upgradation, the user preferences and other critica l
changes made by the user while operating the old OS are preserved and are made effec tive in the
upgraded OS.
Firmware can be upgraded over following protocols
zHTTP
zFTP
zNFS
The different protocols used here provide different methods of accessing the firmware upgra de files
present over the network. The upgrade function disables all other functions of the STC, so befo re
starting the upgrade utility, the user is supposed to quit all other work that is under progress and
save all the settings that is wished to be retained after the upgrade. For this, a warning mes sage is
popped up. On selecting OK in this dialog box, the upgrade process starts, else the upgrade
process is cancelled.
Upgrade Using HTTP
The firmware upgradation file is present in the location specified by the HTTP address. No
username or password is required for this.
