Når HDD og DVD-opptakeren mottar et kopibeskyttelsessignal under innspilling, stoppes innspillingen, og følgende melding vises på skjermen.

Angående kopibeskyttelsessignaler

TV-sendinger som inneholder kopibeskyttelsessignaler kan ha én av følgende tre signaltyper : Fri kopiering, Engangskopiering og Ingen kopiering. Hvis du vil spille inn et program av typen engangskopiering, bruker du DVD-RW med CPRM i VR-modus, DVD-RAM og HDD.

Når et program med “Engangskopiering” er spilt inn, kan det ikke spilles inn mer.

❖Innholdsbeskyttelse for innspillbare medier (CPRM)

CPRM er en funksjon som binder en innspilling til mediet den er innspilt på. Det støttes av noen HDD og DVD- opptakere, men ikke av mange DVD-spillere. Hver tomme innspillbare DVD har en unik 64-biters medie-ID etset inn i BCA. Når beskyttet innhold spilles inn på platen, kan det krypteres med et 56-biters C2-siffer (Cryptomeria) avledet fra medie-IDen.

Under avspilling blir ID-en lest fra BCA og brukt til å generere en nøkkel for å dekryptere innholdet på platen. Hvis innholdet på platen kopieres til andre medier, vil ID-en ikke bli funnet eller være feil slik at dataene ikke kan dekrypteres.
